Research Interests
Although I first took interest in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery due to its connection with artistry, its rapid pace of change has kept me involved. Despite being a historic focus, many of modern plastic surgery's techniques have only gained traction in the last couple decades. As a researcher in the field, it is an incredible privilege to contribute to truly cutting-edge science (no pun intended).
UCSF Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I consider myself lucky to be able to study plastic surgery in the realms of outcomes research, as well as health services research. Indeed, surgical techniques and procedures push the entire field forward. However, plastic surgery's reality will never amount to its theoretical potential without policy decisions informed by academic research.
As a researcher in Dr. John Rose's team at the University of California, San Francisco, we are currently pursuing several studies aimed at improving not only the quality of research, but of patient care. As a long-term project, I am also currently leading the design of a lymphedema registry for UCSF.

Penn State Department of Biobehavioral Health
Working in Dr. Anne-Marie Chang's Sleep, Health & Genetics Lab, my studies combined neurological, sleep, and demographics research. My current focus is on the cross-sectional and longitudinal relationship between adolescent bullying and insomnia symptoms. However, I have also been a project lead for the Phone Sleep study with funding provided by NASA via the Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium. I have also contributed to data collection for the sleep substudy of the Future of Families & Child Wellbeing Study in partnership with Columbia and Princeton Universities, as well as for the Aging Study in partnership with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Some of the largest impacts of my research remain my own improvement in sleep health!

University of Geneva Center for Affective Sciences
I completed an internship at Switzerland's University of Geneva, where I led a project studying the effect of sleep stage modfications on neurological behavior, specifically risk perception. Due to the length of the project and the relative brevity of my internship, I was not able to complete the project. However, I was able to present my preliminary findings at the EuroScholars conference.

Other Research Interests
I like to give a massive amount of credit for my interest in plastic surgery to a course I was invited to take in the second semester of my sophomore year of university. Anatamy in Italy focused on the time period in history when humans first began to turn their scientific focus from the world around them to their own bodies. As a fan of medicine, art, and history, this class opened my eyes to the possibility of a career that could combine my interests. After all, the first people to perform cadaver dissections were artists learning how to sculpt the human body.
